Privacy Policy

TaskScratch was designed with privacy first. Here's exactly what we collect — and what we don't.

Last updated: April 24, 2025

The Short Version

TaskScratch does not collect, sell, or share your personal data. Your tasks, notes, and lists stay on your devices and in your personal iCloud account. We have no servers, no accounts, and no analytics.

Data Storage

All of your data is stored in two places, both entirely under your control:

Data We Do Not Collect

TaskScratch does not collect, process, or transmit:

Third-Party Services

TaskScratch uses no third-party SDKs, analytics libraries, or advertising frameworks. The only external dependency is Apple's own frameworks (SwiftUI, SwiftData, CloudKit, StoreKit) and the open-source swift-markdown-ui library for Markdown rendering, which operates entirely on-device with no network activity.

iCloud Sync

When iCloud is enabled on your device, TaskScratch uses CloudKit's private database — meaning your data is encrypted and accessible only to you. Apple does not give us access to your iCloud data, and we do not have any server infrastructure to receive it.

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in your device's iCloud settings. Your data will continue to exist on-device.

Children's Privacy

TaskScratch does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, there is no special handling required for younger users.

Data Deletion

To delete your data, delete the app from your device. To also remove data from iCloud, go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → TaskScratch → Delete Data on any of your Apple devices.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this policy in a material way, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, if appropriate, post a notice on this page. We will never make changes that compromise the privacy-first nature of this app.
